I am the Baker/Artist/Owner & Creator of Meadowsweet Bakery & Kitchen! I was born and raised in Maine and currently reside in Chelsea with my boyfriend, Ben (and our dog, Hazel & cat, Zola) When I'm not frosting cupcakes, I love being outside, swimming or adventuring with Hazel, finding new restaurants to enjoy, going to music events, exploring new recipes and spending time with my family. I am so excited to start sharing my baking endeavors with you all!
I started working my first job in high school at a little eclectic restaurant in my hometown where I first discovered my love for food. Over the next few years, I would find myself in and out of other restaurants & catering gigs during college while trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Unable to choose a path I took a break from school and started working at a Wine & Cheese shop; little did I know when I walked in there that I would be spending the next 10 years there! This is where I learned basic cake frosting skills, wine & cheese pairings, recipe creations, customer service, management and so much more. This is where I figured out a way to mix my love for art & food to create something magical. It has been a dream to take my skills, creativity and all that I've learned and to create something special of my own. It turned out to be one of those things where "when it is time, you will know" and I knew I was ready to present you all with Meadowsweet Bakery & Kitchen.
For now, doing everything made to order is working great! I am so thankful for everyone who places orders for their special occasions and who come to see what I have at the local markets. My goal and hope for the future is to eventually have a brick & mortar store front for everyone to enjoy! I have so many ideas and so much to offer aside from just my usual cake and cupcakes. I am picturing a little bakery & coffee shop with adorable pastries and delicious treats on the go. Stay tuned to see what comes next!
Meadowsweet is an edible perennial plant that can be found in Maine as well as throughout North America, Europe & Asia. Meadowsweet is most commonly used for medicinal purposes including helping upset stomach, heartburn, joint pain, common cold, etc. It can also be used in baking! With a vanilla & almond like taste, the flowers can be used to make a simple syrup, an aromatic panna cotta or can be dried and sprinkled onto desserts. The word "meadowsweet" has a nice mellow ring to it that brings visuals of blooming fields and the sensation of something sweet. This name fits perfectly with my love for Maine, gardening & foraging, flowering pressing and for the florals I like to bring to life with frosting.
